The Book of Eli
Some will kill to have it. He will kill to protect it.
Synopsis
The Book of Eli (2010) is a post-apocalyptic action thriller by the Hughes Brothers you can watch online on iFILM. Three decades after a nuclear war, America is a scorched wasteland with no law and barely any water.
Eli, a lone wanderer played by Denzel Washington, walks west, guarding a book he has carried for years. He handles a machete with quiet precision and cuts down the road gangs that try to stop him. In a dusty frontier town, power belongs to Carnegie, a self-made tyrant played by Gary Oldman who hunts for that exact book, certain the words inside it will bend the survivors to his will. A young woman named Solara, played by Mila Kunis, chooses to flee the town at Eli's side.
Directors Allen and Albert Hughes shot the story in a bleached, almost colorless palette, and the ending flips everything the audience assumed about Eli and his burden. Add brutal, single-take fight scenes and a hard question about the price of faith. If you like grim end-of-the-world cinema, stream The Book of Eli (2010) online on iFILM.
