About

Synopsis

Hugo (2011) is Martin Scorsese's family adventure drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Paris, the 1930s. An orphaned boy lives hidden inside the walls of a vast railway station, winding its clocks alone.

Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield) guards the one thing his late father left him: a broken automaton and a notebook full of sketches. To fix the mechanical man, he pinches parts from the toy stall of a bitter old shopkeeper played by Ben Kingsley. The merchant's goddaughter Isabelle (Chloe Grace Moretz) joins his secret repairs, while a station inspector, Sacha Baron Cohen, hunts stray children down the platforms. What the automaton finally writes points to a forgotten name from cinema's earliest days.

Scorsese turned the film into a love letter to silent film and effects pioneer Georges Melies, shooting his first picture in 3D and earning five Academy Awards for its craft. The cast also features Christopher Lee, Jude Law and Ray Winstone. Stream Hugo (2011) online on iFILM.
