Bowen (Dennis Quaid) once tutored the young prince Einon in honor and the Old Code. The boy grew into a cruel tyrant, and Bowen blames the dragon who once gave the prince half his own heart to keep him breathing. Years later the knight finally corners the great beast. There's a catch: kill the dragon and the hated king dies too, so the two sworn enemies are forced into an uneasy partnership. The dragon, Draco, speaks with the deep, dry, world-weary voice of Sean Connery.

The cast rounds out with David Thewlis as the scheming king, plus Dina Meyer and Pete Postlethwaite. Draco was brought to life by a then-young ILM, and for 1996 the digital character work was a real leap forward.
