Lisey's Story (Season 1)

Lisey's Story (2021) is an Apple TV+ limited series you can watch online on iFILM. The six-episode run was directed by Pablo Larraín from a screenplay by Stephen King himself — adapting his own novel, which he rarely agrees to do.

Lisey Landon (Julianne Moore) has spent two years as the widow of famous novelist Scott Landon (Clive Owen). When she finally begins sorting through his papers, the past refuses to stay archived. An obsessive fan (Dane DeHaan) starts making threats, and beneath those threats, older memories resurface — of the secret, dark place Scott carried inside him throughout their marriage, and which he shared with Lisey alone.

Larraín, who made Jackie and Spencer, treats the material as a study in grief and buried memory rather than a conventional horror series. There are fewer monsters here than in most King adaptations and more time spent inside Lisey's head, which works because Moore gives the role full weight.
