Black Lightning (2018) is a DC Comics superhero series you can watch online on iFILM. By day Jefferson Pierce runs a high school; by night he zaps street gangs with bolts of electricity. He buried that power for nine years, until he had no choice but to pick it back up.

Pierce (Cress Williams) is the principal of a charter school and a pillar of his rough Freeland neighborhood. When the gang known as the One Hundred starts recruiting his students and threatening his daughters, the Black Lightning suit comes out of storage. His older daughter Anissa (Nafessa Williams) discovers powers of her own and hits the streets as Thunder, while younger Jennifer is just learning to control the current inside her. The Pierce family slowly becomes a team, with all the arguments, secrets and fear that comes with it.

The show stands apart from the rest of The CW lineup: a Black family at its center, and superpowers tangled up with racism, drugs and the fight for one's own block.
