Synopsis

The Great Gatsby (2013) is Baz Luhrmann's drama you can watch online on iFILM. Drawn from F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, it hands the Jazz Age to the director of Moulin Rouge and lets him turn it up to full volume.

The summer of '22. Aspiring bond salesman Nick Carraway, played by Tobey Maguire, rents a small cottage on Long Island next to a mansion that throws roaring parties every weekend. Hardly anyone has met the host: Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Slowly Nick grasps the point of all that glitter. Across the bay, under a single green light, lives Daisy Buchanan, played by Carey Mulligan, the woman Gatsby lost five years earlier and now means to win back. Her husband Tom, played by Joel Edgerton, has no idea.

Luhrmann scores the 1920s with modern hip-hop and shot the film in 3D, dressing a literary classic as a dizzying carnival that masks a clear-eyed story about the price of an illusion. Maguire narrates, and Elisabeth Debicki makes her debut as the golfer Jordan Baker. Stream The Great Gatsby (2013) online on iFILM.
