Poseidon

Poseidon (2006) is Wolfgang Petersen's disaster film, and you can watch it online on iFILM. A remake of the 1972 classic The Poseidon Adventure, it comes from the director of The Perfect Storm and stars Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell and Richard Dreyfuss.

New Year's Eve, somewhere in the mid-Atlantic. A rogue wave slams into the luxury liner Poseidon and flips it upside down. The captain orders everyone to wait for rescue in the ballroom, but professional gambler Dylan Johns refuses to sit still and decides to climb out through the wreck. A handful of strangers follow him: a former New York mayor searching for his daughter, a single mother and her nine-year-old son, a stowaway, and a young waiter. Above them is rising water, below them are inverted decks, and the air keeps thinning.

Petersen leaned on practical effects, flooding real sets and sending his cast through much of the underwater work themselves. The runtime barely stops to breathe for ninety-eight minutes, trading character drama for the raw mechanics of a ship turning into a sinking maze. Stream Poseidon (2006) online on iFILM.
