Synopsis

Hated: GG Allin and The Murder Junkies (1993) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Todd Phillips — who would later make Joker — and running 50 minutes.

GG Allin was the frontman of Murder Junkies and arguably the most transgressive performer in American punk history. He threw feces at crowds, started fights with anyone in range, and promised on record to die onstage one day. Phillips captures him through concert footage, raw interviews with Allin and his brother Merle, and commentary from Dee Dee Ramone. Allin died of a heroin overdose in 1993, the same year the film was released.

Phillips doesn't editorialize. He just points the camera and lets the footage be what it is — which turns out to be the most unsettling approach possible. Stream Hated (1993) online on iFILM.
