Synopsis

South Central (1992) is an American crime drama directed by Stephen Milburn Anderson that you can watch online on iFILM. Glenn Plummer plays Bobby Johnson, a South Los Angeles gang member serving ten years for murder — time that turns out to be the hinge point of his life.

Inside, Bobby meets Ali, a Muslim inmate played by Carl Lumbly, whose quiet conviction starts to shift something in Bobby that years of street life hadn't. He walks out a different person. Then he gets home and finds his young son Jimmie wearing the colors of the Deuces — the same crew Bobby ran with before the arrest. The film is really about the cost of absence: a father trying to reach a boy who learned to survive without him.

Released the same year as Boyz n the Hood and largely overshadowed by it, South Central is a harder, less stylized picture — more interested in redemption as a daily choice than as a moment of triumph. Plummer carries the weight of a man who knows exactly what he helped create. Watch South Central (1992) online on iFILM.
