Lost Highway

Lost Highway (1997) is a David Lynch mystery thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Saxophonist Fred Madison keeps finding videotapes on his doorstep — footage of someone filming him asleep in his own bed.

Fred (Bill Pullman) is convicted of murdering his wife Renee (Patricia Arquette) and sent to death row. Then he vanishes. The next morning guards find a young auto mechanic, Pete Dayton, sitting in the cell instead — a different man, no explanation given. Pete walks free, but his old life refuses to hold together. A blonde who looks exactly like Renee appears, along with a menacing gangster named Dick Laurent, and a pale, faceless stranger who seems to know everything.

This is the film where Lynch first bends the plot into a Möbius strip: a road with no start and no finish. The soundtrack pulls together Angelo Badalamenti, David Bowie, Trent Reznor and Rammstein.
