Apollo 13

Apollo 13 (1995) is Ron Howard's space drama you can watch online on iFILM. Tom Hanks plays commander Jim Lovell, whose trip to the Moon turns into a fight to get home alive.

It is April 1970, and the public has grown bored with Moon shots. Then an oxygen tank ruptures aboard the spacecraft, and three astronauts find themselves trapped in a crippled vessel some 200,000 miles out. Lovell, Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon) and Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) ration every watt of power and every breath of air, while flight director Gene Kranz (Ed Harris) and the engineers in Houston scramble for a way back.

Howard shoots this less as a disaster spectacle and more as a record of improvisation under pressure: building a carbon-dioxide scrubber from a hose, a sock and duct tape so the crew can keep breathing.
