Synopsis

Porco Rosso (1992) is Hayao Miyazaki's animated adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Over the Adriatic in the 1930s, a former World War I fighter ace flies a crimson seaplane and hunts the sky pirates who raid passenger ships. A strange curse has left him part man, part pig, and everyone calls him Porco Rosso.

Studio Ghibli builds a sun-drenched world of biplanes, harbor cafes and slow evenings over the sea. Porco guards the cruise ships until the pirates hire a brash American flyer, Curtis, to gun him down. A teenage mechanic named Fio Piccolo rebuilds his plane, and his old flame Gina waits for him at her seaside hotel. Under the light adventure runs a quiet ache for fallen friends and a vanished age.

Adapted from Miyazaki's own manga The Age of the Flying Boat, this is his most personal work, a film about flight, war-weariness, and a man who would rather stay a pig than rejoin the human race. Stream Porco Rosso (1992) online on iFILM.
