Synopsis
Paper Man (2009) is a comedy-drama directed by Kieran and Michele Mulroney — watch it online on iFILM. Richard Dunne is a middle-aged novelist with no readers and no second act. His wife Claire packs him off to Long Island for a winter of writing. He meets Abby instead, a teenager with her own unresolved problems, and the two become unlikely friends.
Jeff Daniels plays Richard as a man who never quite finished growing up — underscored by his imaginary superhero companion, Captain Excellent, embodied by Ryan Reynolds in full spandex. Emma Stone is Abby, sharp and guarded. Lisa Kudrow plays Claire, a woman who has given her husband more runway than he deserves. The friendship between Richard and Abby is strange and a little awkward, but it turns out to be the one honest relationship either of them has.
