Synopsis
Patients (2017) is a French drama with a streak of comedy you can watch online on iFILM. One dive into a swimming pool changes everything for Ben. He wakes up in a rehabilitation center able to move almost nothing below his neck.
The film follows his months among other patients: tetraplegics, paraplegics, people recovering from brain trauma. Some landed here after a single bad accident. One has lived this way since childhood. A whole day can go into learning to bend a finger or grip a fork again. A few slowly claw back some movement. Others get the verdict that nothing will change. What grows between them is friendship, the rough and honest kind.
Directed by Mehdi Idir and rapper Grand Corps Malade, the story comes straight from the latter's own book and his time in such a center after a neck injury. Pablo Pauly, Soufiane Guerrab and Alban Ivanov lead the cast. It finds jokes where most films would only find tears. Stream Patients (2017) online on iFILM.
