Synopsis
The Amazing Maurice (2022) — watch online this animated fantasy-comedy directed by Toby Genkel, adapted from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel. Hugh Laurie voices Maurice, a ginger cat with a sharp tongue and sharper instincts for profit. The cast also includes Emilia Clarke, David Tennant, and Hugh Bonneville.
Maurice has a clean little operation: a crew of self-educated talking rats stages a fake infestation in a new town, a kid with a pipe chases them off, and everyone shares the reward money. It runs perfectly — until the town of Bad Blintz. Rats are going missing, food stores are empty, and the local rat-catcher is hiding something that has nothing to do with pest control. A bookworm named Malicia insists this is exactly how proper stories start, which proves more trouble than it sounds.
Pratchett wrote the original novel as a deadpan deconstruction of fairy-tale logic, and the film carries that wit intact.
