Synopsis
Moonwalker (1988) — watch online on iFILM. A music fantasy film produced by Warner Bros. and The Michael Jackson Company, running 93 minutes across concert footage, short segments, and one extended narrative built around the Bad album era.
The film opens with a kids' spoof of the "Bad" video, moves through live highlights from the 1987–88 world tour, then settles into the "Smooth Criminal" story: Michael fights a drug lord named Mr. Big (Joe Pesci), shapeshifts into a car and a combat robot, and protects a group of children including Sean Ono Lennon as his young sidekick. Four directors split the segments — Colin Chilvers, Jerry Kramer, Will Vinton, and Jim Blashfield — giving each section its own visual logic. Budget came in at $22 million; the film pulled $67 million worldwide.
Released in October 1988, Moonwalker became a VHS staple across the globe — the kind of tape that wore out from rewinding. It is the closest thing to a feature film Jackson ever made, and every frame reflects exactly how he chose to present himself at the height of his powers. Stream Moonwalker (1988) online on iFILM.
