Synopsis
The Entity (1982) is Sidney J. Furie's supernatural horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Carla Moran is a single mother getting by in Los Angeles, until the night an unseen attacker pins her down in her own bedroom.
Played by Barbara Hershey, Carla is beaten and assaulted again and again by a force no one else can see. Her psychiatrist, Phil Sneiderman (Ron Silver), reads it as trauma surfacing from her past and refuses to entertain anything paranormal. A team of university parapsychologists takes the opposite bet, hauling cameras and instruments into her house to capture proof. The film never tells you who to believe.
The screenplay came from Frank De Felitta's novel, which drew on a reported case from 1970s California. Hershey carries the whole thing on raw nerve, with a performance critics still single out.
