One night four figures in red jumpsuits appear at the end of the driveway, golden scissors in hand. They are copies of the Wilsons themselves: identical faces and bodies, but jerky in their movements, and the double of Adelaide speaks only in a strangled rasp. Who they are, where they came from and what they want is something Peele unspools slowly, turning a home invasion into a riddle about what waits underneath.

Lupita Nyong'o plays both roles, the mother and her mirrored shadow, and her performance carries the whole picture. Around her are Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
