Getting there for real means tracking down Frank Walker, a former boy genius turned bitter recluse played by George Clooney. The two set off across space and time toward a place buried in their shared memory. Along the way they meet Athena, an enigmatic young android brought to life by Raffey Cassidy, and run into the cold gatekeeper Nix, played by Hugh Laurie. Every clue they chase pulls something dangerous behind it.

Bird, the director of The Incredibles and Ratatouille, took on his first big live-action Disney film and built it around hope for the future instead of the usual apocalypse.
