Synopsis

Dr. Strangelove (1964) is Stanley Kubrick's pitch-black satire, and you can watch it online on iFILM. One deranged general orders a nuclear strike on the Soviet Union, and almost nothing can call it back.

General Jack D. Ripper, convinced communists are sapping America's "precious bodily fluids," scrambles a wing of bombers armed with hydrogen bombs. Down in the War Room, President Muffley, a Soviet ambassador and the rabid General Turgidson argue themselves hoarse over how to recall the planes. A British officer, Mandrake, tries to pry the recall code out of Ripper. Up in the air, gung-ho Major Kong rides his payload toward the target. Peter Sellers plays three roles at once: the timid president, the British colonel and a wheelchair-bound ex-Nazi scientist whose arm has a mind of its own.

Kubrick set out to make a tense thriller from Peter George's novel, then found the material so absurd that comedy was the only honest route. George C. Scott and Slim Pickens round out a war machine gone insane. Stream Dr. Strangelove (1964) online on iFILM.
