Papillon

Papillon (2017) is a crime drama and survival adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Henri "Papillon" Charrière (Charlie Hunnam) is a Parisian safecracker framed for a murder he didn't commit and shipped off to the penal colonies of French Guiana for life.

To stay alive in the jungle prison, Henri strikes a bargain with Louis Dega (Rami Malek), a wealthy counterfeiter who can pay for protection. One man has money and no muscle; the other has muscle and one obsession — escape. Their deal hardens into a real friendship, tested by beatings, solitary confinement, and the looming threat of Devil's Island, a rock surrounded by open ocean that no prisoner has ever left.

Director Michael Noer rebuilt the story from Charrière's own memoir and the 1973 film starring Steve McQueen. Shot across Serbia, Montenegro, and Malta, it trades polish for heat, grime, and the crushing scale of the cells. This is a film about how far a man will go for a few meters of open water.
