Biutiful

Biutiful (2010) is Alejandro González Iñárritu's drama, and you can watch online on iFILM. Javier Bardem plays a man with far more to settle than time to settle it.

Uxbal works the margins of Barcelona. He brokers deals for Senegalese street vendors, places undocumented Chinese laborers in sweatshops and building sites, and quietly takes money to pass messages from the dead. He raises a son and a daughter alone, while their mother Marambra, bipolar and unreliable, drifts in and out of their lives. Then a doctor gives him a diagnosis with no way back, and Uxbal starts racing to put things in order: who will keep the children, how to clear his debts, how to ask forgiveness before the clock runs out. Maricel Álvarez and Eduard Fernández round out the cast.

This was Iñárritu's first feature after splitting from screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga, trading the interlocking timelines of his earlier work for one grounded portrait of a dying father.
