Synopsis

Babel (2006) is Alejandro González Iñárritu's mosaic drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. A single gunshot in the Moroccan desert ties four families together across three continents.

An American couple, Richard and Susan (Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett), travels through Morocco trying to repair a marriage that has gone quiet. A stray bullet hits Susan, and everything starts to unravel. In Mexico, their nanny smuggles their kids across the border to her son's wedding, and the trip turns into a slow disaster. In Tokyo, deaf teenager Chieko (Rinko Kikuchi) lashes out at the whole world after her mother's death. The rifle fired in Morocco was once a gift from a Japanese hunter. That is the thread.

The film closes the loose trilogy on fate and chance that Iñárritu began with Amores Perros and 21 Grams. It won Best Director at Cannes and earned seven Oscar nominations, while Kikuchi's wordless, sign-language performance announced a new star. Stream Babel (2006) online on iFILM.
