On a spring morning a fawn is born in a forest clearing, and every animal hurries over to greet the new young prince. Bambi wobbles onto thin legs, befriends the restless rabbit Thumper and a shy skunk nicknamed Flower, and grows sweet on a doe named Faline. He lives through a full turn of the seasons. Then gunfire breaks the autumn calm, and the little deer learns a word that changes everything: Man.

Director David Hand and his artists painted the woods like fine art, from drifting rain to cracking ice.
