Synopsis
The Monkey King (2023) is a Netflix animated adventure-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Anthony Stacchi pulls from Journey to the West — one of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature — and turns it into a fast, funny family ride with voice work by Jimmy O. Yang and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport.
Monkey is cocky, wildly powerful, and obsessed with joining the immortals. He picks up an unlikely companion: a small girl who has nowhere better to be. Together they battle demons, antagonize a dragon, and work their way through celestial bureaucracy. The real problem, as it turns out, is Monkey's ego — which turns out to be a bigger obstacle than any beast he fights.
