This Is the End

This Is the End (2013) is an action comedy you can watch online on iFILM. It's the directing debut of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and the stars play warped versions of themselves: James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson and Danny McBride.

It kicks off at a loud housewarming party at Franco's place. Baruchel misses his old friend Rogen and hates the scene, and then the sky tears open. The ground splits, beams of light yank people upward, others drop into fiery pits. Six buddies barricade themselves inside the mansion with dwindling food, water and a single joint between them. The apocalypse rages outside; inside it's all bickering over rations, bruised egos and the question of who actually deserves to be saved. Emma Watson swings by with an axe, alongside Michael Cera, Rihanna and Channing Tatum in roles you won't see coming.

Rogen and Goldberg turn a biblical end of days into a savage send-up of Hollywood friendship and celebrity vanity. The humor is crude, the gore and effects pile up, and the cast clearly relish trashing their own public images. Stream This Is the End (2013) online on iFILM.
