Luxo Jr.

Luxo Jr. (1986) is John Lasseter's animated short, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Two minutes, two desk lamps and a ball: a big lamp looks on while a little one bats a ball around, hopping with delight until the ball pops under its weight.

With no dialogue at all, the film gives its lamps age and personality through movement and light alone. It was the first short from the newborn Pixar studio, a breakthrough in computer animation and the first of its kind nominated for an Academy Award.
