Synopsis

SubUrbia (1997) is an American drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Richard Linklater and written by Eric Bogosian from his own stage play. A group of post-high-school drifters spend another night in the parking lot of a convenience store — the same parking lot, the same six-packs, the same arguments going nowhere. Then a former classmate shows up in a tour bus. He left three years ago and came back a rock star.

That visit cracks everything open. Old resentments surface, half-buried ambitions get dragged into the light, and alliances that seemed solid start to shift before sunrise. Giovanni Ribisi, Steve Zahn, and Parker Posey lead an ensemble that treats suburban stagnation less as a punchline and more as a genuine trap. Linklater made the film right after Before Sunrise, and the same patience is here — long scenes, real dialogue, no tidy resolution.

It's the kind of film where no one is entirely wrong and no one is entirely right, which makes it more uncomfortable than most comedies and more honest than most dramas. Watch SubUrbia (1997) online on iFILM.
