Synopsis
The Transformers: The Movie (1986) is an animated sci-fi feature you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Nelson Shin, with voices from Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Leonard Nimoy and Orson Welles.
The year is 2005. Megatron's forces have seized Cybertron and the Autobots are pinned down. But the Decepticons turn out to be the smaller problem: Unicron, a living planet that devours worlds whole, is closing in. Only the Matrix of Leadership can stop him. The war kills off heroes that fans grew up with on the TV show and hands the torch to a new lineup. Orson Welles voiced Unicron in what became his final film role.
The picture grew out of the cult cartoon about shape-shifting robots and still holds a life of its own among collectors. Eighty-four minutes of rock soundtrack, neon-bright carnage and scenes that startled even older viewers back in 1986. The tagline delivered: beyond good, beyond evil.
