Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

It's Halloween night, 1968, in the sleepy town of Mill Valley, Pennsylvania. After a prank goes wrong, Stella (Zoe Colletti) and her friends slip into the abandoned Bellows mansion, a place soaked in local rumor. Inside they find a handwritten book of tales. The catch: the stories write themselves, and each fresh page picks off one more teenager. To break it, the kids have to dig up what really happened in that house decades ago.

Øvredal pulls his monsters straight out of Stephen Gammell's original illustrations: the Pale Lady, the Jangly Man, Harold the scarecrow, each one warping a victim's mind in its own way. A tight 108 minutes where a children's book curdles into a waking nightmare. Dean Norris, Michael Garza and Austin Abrams round out the cast.
