Synopsis
The Rescuers Down Under (1990) is a Disney animated adventure — watch online on iFILM. Directors Hendel Butoy and Mike Gabriel send mouse agents Bernard (Bob Newhart) and Miss Bianca (Eva Gabor) to the Australian outback, where a poacher named McLeach (George C. Scott) has kidnapped a boy named Cody, the only one who knows where a rare golden eagle makes its nest.
Getting there means hitching a ride with the accident-prone albatross Wilbur (John Candy), which is its own ordeal. McLeach is a proper threat — patient, ruthless, and very good at setting traps. The film balances cliff-edge action sequences with the kind of deadpan humor that Newhart and Candy could deliver in their sleep, and the animation has a visual depth that was genuinely new at the time.
It was the first Disney feature produced entirely through the CAPS digital ink-and-paint system, a behind-the-scenes leap that changed how the studio worked for the next decade. Eva Gabor's performance as Miss Bianca was her last screen role. Stream The Rescuers Down Under (1990) in full on iFILM.
