Synopsis
Okja (2017) is Bong Joon-ho's adventure drama you can watch online on iFILM. In the mountains of South Korea, a girl named Mija has spent ten years raising Okja, a huge genetically engineered pig she loves like a sister.
The animal belongs to the Mirando Corporation, which seeded farms worldwide with these creatures as a publicity stunt. When the contract ends, Okja is hauled off to New York, and Mija chases her across the planet to get her back. She runs into the company's frantic CEO Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton), a washed-up TV naturalist (Jake Gyllenhaal) and an underground animal-rights cell led by Paul Dano's character. What starts as a story about a friendship hardens into a pointed look at the meat industry.
Released by Netflix, the film famously split the Cannes Film Festival over streaming, and its blend of tender road movie and corporate satire made it one of the director's most talked-about works before Parasite. Stream Okja (2017) online on iFILM.
