About

Synopsis

Working Girl (1988) is a sharp comedy-drama about ambition you can watch online on iFILM. Tess McGill is a Staten Island secretary who rides the ferry into Manhattan's financial district every morning. She has the brains for a corner office and none of the polish that opens its doors.

Her break arrives sideways. When her boss Katharine breaks a leg on a ski trip, Tess discovers the woman has quietly stolen her merger idea. So she takes a gamble: she moves into the empty office, passes herself off as an executive, and walks into the deal herself. Her partner on it is dealmaker Jack Trainer, charming and far more tangled up with Katharine than Tess realizes.

Melanie Griffith plays Tess with a tender mix of nerve and naivety, Sigourney Weaver is the icy boss, and Harrison Ford is Jack. Mike Nichols directs. Carly Simon's anthem "Let the River Run," set against the city's skyline, won the Academy Award, and the film drew five more Oscar nominations. Stream Working Girl (1988) online on iFILM.
