The Strain (Seasons 1–4)

The Strain (2014–2017) is FX's horror series you can watch online on iFILM. A plane lands at JFK with nearly everyone aboard dead, and no obvious cause to explain it.

Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, an epidemiologist with the city's disease control team, arrives to find out what killed them. At first it reads like a novel virus. Then the bodies start vanishing from the morgue. An old pawnbroker named Abraham Setrakian, a camp survivor, says it plainly: this is no illness but an ancient evil he has hunted for fifty years. Eph teams up with exterminator Vasiliy Fet and a ragtag band of New Yorkers to stop the spread. The cast features Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Kevin Durand, Mía Maestro, and Sean Astin.

Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse created the show from the novel trilogy del Toro wrote with Chuck Hogan. Del Toro directed the pilot himself and gave the vampire parasite his signature biomechanics: no romance, just stingers and slime.
