Swamp Thing (Season 1)

Swamp Thing (2019) is a dark DC Comics horror-fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. CDC researcher Abby Arcane comes back to her small Louisiana hometown, where something poisonous is crawling out of the marsh.

She teams up with Alec Holland, a scientist studying the local plant life. They start to trust each other, then the swamp kills him and gives him back as something that is no longer a man. Half plant, half the memory of the dead, the creature haunts the water, and Abby is the only one trying to work out how much of Alec is still inside it. Meanwhile, local tycoon Avery Sunderland hides why he wants this land and this water so badly. The cast features Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Will Patton, Virginia Madsen and Jennifer Beals.

The show ran for a single season but left a mark with its thick Southern Gothic mood and practical creature effects over plain CGI. The season plays like a slow mystery about a body in the bog and a force that grows up through death. Stream Swamp Thing (2019) online on iFILM.
