Synopsis
The Walk (2015) is Robert Zemeckis's adventure drama you can watch online on iFILM. It follows the morning in August 1974 when a young Frenchman, Philippe Petit, strung a cable between the freshly finished towers of the World Trade Center and stepped out over a quarter-mile of empty air.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the street performer chasing a single obsession. Petit first learns the trade from a gruff old circus hand, played by Ben Kingsley, then spends months plotting what he calls "the coup": smuggling gear past guards, recruiting a ragtag crew, and sketching how to rig a wire between two rooftops nobody is meant to reach. His girlfriend Annie and a handful of accomplices gamble their freedom on his idea. Once he finally sets a foot on the cable, the film stops being a heist and becomes raw vertigo you feel in your stomach.
Zemeckis built the movie around Petit's own memoir, and the closing minutes on the wire send most viewers gripping their armrests. It also works as a quiet tribute to the Twin Towers as they stood in 1974. Stream The Walk (2015) online on iFILM.
