Inception

Inception (2010), Christopher Nolan's science-fiction heist, is yours to watch online on iFILM. Dom Cobb steals ideas from people's dreams. This time the job is to do the opposite.

Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the best extractor alive, pulling secrets from a sleeper's subconscious. The skill made him a fugitive who lost his home and his kids. Then businessman Saito (Ken Watanabe) offers a way back: plant one idea deep inside the mind of corporate heir Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy), and the charges against Cobb disappear. The crew is sharp and mismatched. Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) keeps the plan cold, Eames (Tom Hardy) forges identities, and architecture student Ariadne (Elliot Page) designs the dream mazes they fall through. Go a dream within a dream within a dream, and you may never wake up. Worse, Cobb's dead wife Mal (Marion Cotillard) keeps breaking in.

Nolan runs the film like clockwork. The rotating hotel corridor, the collapsing city, the zero-gravity fight were built and shot for real, not painted in by a computer. Hans Zimmer scored it, Wally Pfister shot it, and the picture took four Academy Awards for its craft. People still argue over the spinning top in the last shot.
