About

Synopsis

Pushing Tin (1999) is an American comedy-drama directed by Mike Newell — watch it online on iFILM. Nick Falzone (John Cusack) runs the radar room at the New York TRACON facility. Dozens of aircraft stacked and sequenced at once, a job that burns through lesser people in months. Nick thrives on it.

Then Russell Bell walks in. Billy Bob Thornton plays him as a man who moves slow, speaks quiet, and apparently has no idea what anxiety feels like. That gets under Nick's skin fast. What starts as professional rivalry spills into their marriages and eventually their egos. Cate Blanchett plays Nick's wife; Angelina Jolie plays Russell's. The script was adapted from a New York Times Magazine piece by Daryl Ponicsan about the real culture inside American air traffic control towers. Stream Pushing Tin (1999) online on iFILM.
