Synopsis

Antitrust (2001) is Peter Howitt's tech thriller, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Gifted coder Milo Hoffman lands a dream job at the empire of software mogul Gary Winston, then slowly realizes the dream has a false bottom.

Winston (Tim Robbins), a glossy guru in the Bill Gates mold, sources brilliant code from anywhere, and the price for those lines of code turns out to be human lives. Digging deeper, Milo (Ryan Phillippe) finds himself a cog in a machine that crushes rivals in the most literal way. He can't fully trust his boss, his girlfriend Alice (Claire Forlani), or his colleague Lisa (Rachael Leigh Cook). Richard Roundtree also appears.

Released at the height of the dot-com boom and the open-source-versus-monopoly debates, the film now plays like a time capsule of the late nineties. Its ending hinges on which character Milo decides to believe. A hundred and eight minutes of startup paranoia. Stream Antitrust (2001) online on iFILM.
