The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

To open her mother's last box, Clara must cross four kingdoms: the Land of Snowflakes, the Land of Flowers, the Land of Sweets, and a grim fourth realm overrun by mice. Mackenzie Foy plays a girl who has to grow up fast. Keira Knightley is the sugary, unsettling Sugar Plum Fairy, Helen Mirren commands an army from the shadows, and Morgan Freeman guards what Clara's father never told her. A wooden soldier named Phillip becomes her guide.

Two directors steered the film, Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston, building it from Tchaikovsky's ballet and E.T.A. Hoffmann's tale.
