Synopsis
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) is an animated comedy-adventure from Illumination and Nintendo you can watch online on iFILM. Brooklyn plumber Mario (Chris Pratt) and his brother Luigi (Charlie Day) tumble through a mysterious underground pipe and land in a world they do not recognize. They are immediately separated. Luigi ends up captive under the tyrannical Bowser (Jack Black), who plans to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom with a Super Star he has just stolen. Mario finds Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), convinces a skeptical Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen) to fight alongside them, and races through obstacle courses, kart tracks and lava-filled fortresses to get his brother back.
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto served as a hands-on producer to make sure every detail matched the source material. The film packs in dozens of callbacks to classic games — power-ups, world maps, enemy designs — while composer Brian Tyler and arranger Koji Kondo wove the original game themes into the score.
