Megalopolis

Megalopolis (2024) is Francis Ford Coppola's science-fiction drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Adam Driver stars as architect Cesar Catilina, a man determined to rebuild a decaying metropolis into a utopia of the future.

The story unfolds in New Rome, a New York reimagined as a late-empire capital where politics, money and scandal all carry the rot of ancient Rome. Catilina can stop time and controls a mysterious substance called Megalon, the building block of the perfect city he envisions. Standing in his way is Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who guards his power at any cost. Caught between the two is the mayor's daughter Julia (Nathalie Emmanuel), whose loyalty decides whose vision wins.

Coppola nursed this project for decades and finally financed it himself, selling off part of his vineyards. The result is a sprawling, divisive, deliberately theatrical statement on power and creation, with Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight and Laurence Fishburne filling out the cast.
