Synopsis

Coppola shot the entire film on handbuilt sets at his American Zoetrope studio — every Vegas street corner was constructed from scratch on a soundstage in Hollywood. Tom Waits wrote and performed the score. The film lost a great deal of money on release, but its visual ambition and the Waits soundtrack earned it a devoted following over the decades.
