Synopsis

Rumble Fish (1983) is a Francis Ford Coppola crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Rusty James fights, skips school, and chases one dream: to be the kind of street legend his older brother once was.

Around town they call the brother the Motorcycle Boy. He used to rule every teenage gang, then vanished out west, and now he is back as someone else entirely. Rumbles bore him. He watches his kid brother's brawls with a quiet, burnt-out detachment. Their father, a washed-up lawyer lost in the bottle, gave up on both sons long ago. Rusty's girlfriend Patty can feel him reaching past her toward a reputation she cannot compete with, and the story moves toward a price that has to be paid.

Adapted from the S. E. Hinton novel, which she co-wrote for the screen with Coppola, the film is shot almost entirely in stark black and white. Only the Siamese fighting fish in a pet-shop tank flare up in red and blue. The young cast packs in Mickey Rourke, Matt Dillon, Diane Lane, Nicolas Cage and Laurence Fishburne, with a score by Stewart Copeland of The Police. Stream Rumble Fish (1983) online on iFILM.
