About

Synopsis

Watch After Hours online on iFILM, Martin Scorsese's jittery black comedy about one date that spirals into an all-night nightmare. Bored Manhattan word processor Paul Hackett meets a woman at a coffee shop and heads downtown to SoHo expecting an easy hookup. He never makes it home.

Griffin Dunne plays Paul as a man whose every escape route collapses: his cash blows out a cab window, the subway fare jumps, and each new acquaintance drags him deeper into trouble. Rosanna Arquette, Linda Fiorentino, Teri Garr, and Catherine O'Hara play the women who alternately rescue him and feed him to the chaos. By dawn an entire neighborhood is convinced he is a burglar and out for blood.

Made between The King of Comedy and The Color of Money, this is a leaner, meaner Scorsese working at a near-panic tempo. The film won him the Best Director prize at Cannes. For a look at the master of crime epics loose in nightmare-comedy territory, stream After Hours online on iFILM.
