Synopsis

The Irishman (2019) — watch online on iFILM. Martin Scorsese's three-and-a-half-hour crime epic, starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci, released on Netflix to ten Academy Award nominations.

Frank Sheeran tells his own story from a nursing home chair. A Pennsylvania truck driver in the 1950s, he drifts into the orbit of mob boss Russell Bufalino (Pesci), who starts handing him small favors and then bigger ones. Frank picks up a second trade — "painting houses," as the underworld calls it. Russell eventually introduces him to Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino), the most powerful labor boss in the country, equally tied to the White House and to organized crime. Their friendship spans nearly twenty years and ends in a way that rewrote American history.

Scorsese built the film from Charles Brandt's book based on Sheeran's own confessions, then used digital de-aging technology so De Niro, Pacino and Pesci could carry forty years of the same story without recasting. Stream The Irishman in full online on iFILM.
