The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022) is an Amazon Studios fantasy series you can watch online on iFILM. Set thousands of years before Frodo ever held the One Ring, it takes place in the Second Age of Middle-earth — when Sauron was still a whisper and the great kingdoms stood unbroken. The cast includes Charlie Vickers, Morfydd Clark, Robert Aramayo, and Benjamin Walker, with directors Juan Antonio Bayona, Sanaa Hamri, and Charlotte Brandström guiding the first two seasons.

Galadriel is convinced evil never truly died, but the other elves want peace and she wants answers. To the north, a wandering people called the Harfoots cross paths with a stranger who fell from the sky. Númenor — the greatest kingdom of men — sails toward a destiny it cannot yet imagine. Four storylines pull in different directions until one question ties them together: who is forging the rings, and what do they actually want?

The show draws on material from Tolkien's appendices and The Silmarillion, texts that had never been adapted for screen before.
