Then a woman he sees every morning at a coffee shop starts pulling at something he cannot explain. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II steps in as a new version of Morpheus. Jonathan Groff plays a rebooted Agent Smith. Jessica Henwick's Bugs is the one who actually moves the story forward. Shot for Warner Bros. with a $190 million budget, running 148 minutes.

Wachowski built the film as both a sequel and a deliberate interrogation of sequels — it quotes the original, mocks the franchise logic and still lands where it needs to emotionally.
