About

Synopsis

Bicentennial Man (1999) is a sci-fi drama starring Robin Williams — watch it online on iFILM. The Martin family buys an NDR-114 household robot they name Andrew. He vacuums floors, repairs furniture, and follows instructions. Then he starts laughing at jokes and asking questions no appliance should ever ask.

Sam Neill plays Richard Martin, the first to notice that Andrew is different. Oliver Platt is the engineer who helps Andrew upgrade his own body over decades. The story spans two hundred years, moving from a comfortable suburban house to a transformed future city, as Andrew pursues one thing the law will not grant him.

The script draws on Isaac Asimov's short stories and the novel The Positronic Man. Director Chris Columbus keeps the tone warm rather than cold, letting the question of what separates a machine from a person land quietly rather than through speeches. Stream Bicentennial Man (1999) online on iFILM.
