Synopsis
Welcome to Marwen (2018) is Robert Zemeckis's drama you can watch online on iFILM. It follows artist Mark Hogancamp, beaten almost to death outside a bar and left without his memory or his ability to draw.
To rebuild himself, Mark turns his backyard into Marwen, a miniature WWII Belgian town populated by dolls. One of them is a fearless American pilot who looks just like him; the rest are armed women who guard him from a squad of Nazis. Steve Carell plays a man hiding inside his own toy fantasy because the real world, where he must testify against his attackers, terrifies him. Leslie Mann, Janelle Monae, Diane Kruger and Merritt Wever surround him as the heroines of his invented world.
Zemeckis filmed the dolls using motion capture, so the toy battles move with the same weight as the human scenes.
